Children's lives are more hectic today then they have ever been with them being shuffled from care/school with sports, homework clubs or other interests.
Their childhood os so fleeting.
I strive to ensure that every child has time to play, to be alone and to be with friends.
Today as I sat my the river today watching Miss 3 going about the important business of being a child I noticed her with a feather. She walked around for a while with it in her hand, Just staring at it. I continued to watch. I wondered where to from here (I try very hard not to adultify the children's play by asking questions)? She walked to the waters edge and crouched down. Totally in her own world. She placed the feather in the water. It floated. She poked it with her finger and she watched. Her entire body was engaged in this activity but there was an air of tranquility and peace as she crouched at the waters edge. Noone hurrying her. Noone invading her thoughts.
I think as adults we forgot how to just be.
This is how childhood should be.
